4th Grade Field Trips
May 18, 2023
The 4th grade enjoyed a couple of field trips this Spring. Our first field trip was to the State Capitol and to Morrill Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus. At the capitol, students learned about the architecture and history of the capitol building, as well as learning about the three branches of government. The students enjoyed their time at Morrill Hall learning about the ancient animal life that once roamed the Nebraska landscape. We were also able to watch a movie, “Into the Deep” at Mueller Planetarium inside Morrill Hall.
Students also got to experience a local field trip to the country school in McCandless Park and to the Welsh Center, both in Wymore. Volunteers from the Welsh Center provided history lessons about the country school and life in the Wymore area from the early 20th century. Students had the opportunity to learn and play games that were popular in the past. FBLA students from Southern High School presented information about Wales and the Welsh families who settled in southern Gage County.
Thank you to all the volunteers who made this an educational and enjoyable experience.
