Hello, my name is Josie Hulse and I will be the new K-12 Art teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. My philosophy for my art classroom is to be an outlet for students to take risks, make mistakes, and accept failure as an opportunity to grow. I grew up in Friend, Nebraska where I graduated in 2018. I continued my education for one year at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln before transferring to the University of Nebraska at Omaha to get my bachelor's in Studio Arts with a concentration in K-12 education. I am very excited to start my very first year of teaching at Southern Public Schools as a K-12 Art Teacher! Outside of school, you can find my boyfriend and me hiking and playing frisbee with our border collies, Rue and Barry. In my free time, I enjoy sketching and painting outdoors when the Nebraska weather cooperates. I enjoy all types of mediums of art and consider myself a jack of all trades, but a master of none! I have experience in painting, drawing, digital media, sculpture, woodworking, and welding. I am especially looking forward to getting to know my students and experiencing their artistic talent! It is of great joy to become part of the Raiders community.
