Good Start to the Year
November 06, 2025
WOW!! It seems like school has just started, and we are already nine weeks into the first quarter. Everything is in full swing, and our students and staff have been very busy in the classroom and with activities. I have been extremely pleased with our students and how they have come into the year ready to learn, and how responsible they have been when it comes to showing up to class prepared and getting work completed. Also, the respect they have shown towards fellow students, staff members, and the respect they have shown towards other schools while attending events has been outstanding. Again this year, during our student assembly on the first day of school, we talked about the three things that students needed to do in order to have a fun and successful school year. Those three things are, be respectful, be responsible, and be safe. Because our students have chosen to follow these guidelines, we have had a great start to the 2025-2026 school year.
As we move through the month of October, our students are finishing up with many activities and are looking forward to starting new ones. Junior high football and volleyball will be completing their seasons soon, softball finished district play on October 6th, football will play their final regular season game on October 17th, and volleyball will start sub-district play on October 27th.
A reminder that communication between the family and the teachers is a huge component in a student’s success. You may also check PowerSchool regularly to see your child’s progress throughout the year. I encourage you to come out and support our extracurricular activities. Southern students and coaches/sponsors put in a lot of time, and they appreciate your support.
Please check out our school website, Facebook page, and X account as Mrs. Fralin and her students work hard to keep these updated so everyone can follow what great things are happening at Southern.
Go Raiders!! Mr. Murphy
