I’m Miss Alexis Schmidt, and I’m excited to begin my first year of teaching as the JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) instructor for grades 8–12. Before this role, I served as the 4-H Extension Assistant in Fillmore County, where I implemented local programming for three years. During that time, I also earned my master’s degree in Child, Youth, and Family Studies – Youth Development from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, a program that challenged me to deepen my knowledge of how to empower youth to discover and pursue their passions. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Leadership from South Dakota State University, with minors in Agronomy, Horticulture, and Sustainable Local Foods. While at SDSU, I competed on the Track & Field team, participated in several campus organizations, and worked at the Local Foods Education Center. Outside of school, you can usually find me outdoors in the garden, staying active with a workout, or traveling to explore new places.
