8th Grade Reads, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl

March 16, 2023

Anne Frank is a Jewish teenager who received a brand new diary for her thirteenth birthday. It was 1942. She was so excited about the gift! Anne wrote in the diary nearly daily over the next two years, while also living in hiding due to the Nazi occupation of Europe. It was the time of the Holocaust. As the students read the diary, they are learning about Anne and her take on daily events while living in hiding, her hopes, her dreams, her fears, and the war that is all around her. They are also learning about her personality and ability to see through the darkness of situations and find the strength to keep going forward. Anne Frank-"In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart."
