Solar S'mores anyone?
November 20, 2020
The Southern 4th graders have been studying about energy as part of their new science curriculum. Students were challenged to plan, build, and test solar cookers. In this particular activity, students were able to experience first hand the transfer of solar energy into heat energy. Thankfully, we experienced a mild heatwave in mid-November with temperatures nearing 75 degrees. With a clear sky and bright sun, some students recorded temperatures as high as 120 degrees. Students observed that the chocolate melted much easier than the marshmallows in this sweet tasting science experiment.
