My name is Melissa Omar and I have been teaching at Southern since the 2014-2015 school year. I teach a variety of classes which include: Reading 7 & 8, Careers 8, and Math 7 & 8. Education B.A. in History with a minor in Sociology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (May 2007) M.A. in Teaching from the College of Saint Mary in Omaha (May 2009) Mild/Moderate (7-12) Special Education Endorsement from the University of Nebraska-Kearney (May 2014) Experience Essential Skills Paraprofessional at East High School in Cheyenne, WY (August 2009-July 2013) Substitute Teacher at Beatrice Public Schools (August 2013-May 2014) Special Education Teacher and Junior Class Sponsor at Southern (August 2014-Present) Family/Hobbies I am originally from Columbus, NE and have lived in Nebraska most of my life. My husband and I moved out to Cheyenne, WY after we got married and lived out there for four years. My husband’s name is Chad and we have been married for eight years. We have twin six year old boys, Finley and Edison. They are in the 1st grade at St. Joseph’s in Beatrice. We also have two dogs. Maximus is our black lab and Maddux is our beagle. My hobbies include running, reading and cooking. I have completed three half marathons and many 10k and 5k races. My favorite books to read are mystery/suspense and young adult.
