Science Classes with Miss Dunekake

February 07, 2019

The Junior class has been practicing their science ACT skills in their Science classes. Students have learned about the types of passages they will see in the science section and tips on how to narrow down choices to get the correct answers. A passage a day has been given to the students since the holiday break. Students took a full science ACT test at the beginning of January, and we compared their scores to the full science ACT test they took at the end of January. Average scores improved by almost 2 points, showing that the Juniors are becoming more confident and skilled in their ACT test taking.

The eighth grade are concluded their astronomy unit by creating bottle rockets. Students were given a fake budget of $500,000 to build their rocket, then had to purchase parts from the teacher and stay within the budget. Students will be given an opportunity to improve their rockets after they launch them. Students will then analyze how life, drag, mass, and forces affected their rockets in a short, written paper.
