Congratulations to Claire Hookstra! She is the Math Student of the Month for October 2018! Claire is a busy Junior who is currently enrolled in two math classes this year preparing herself for the upcoming college entrance exams such as the ACT, which she will take in April. All Juniors in the state of Nebraska are required to take the ACT in April because it is a state mandate.
Claire is friendly and helps other students in class when asked. Claire works diligently in class using her class time wisely. She also works on improving her speed when working on math problems in class. Her hard work has paid off as she qualified to be one of the students that will represent Southern High School for UNL Math Day in Lincoln this November 15th, 2018. Six students will represent Southern and will compete in a Math Quiz Bowl Competition. The other students representing Southern are: Josh Lundstedt, Shelby Decker, Bella Im, Dalton Heard, and Lauren Trauernicht. Over 105 different high schools from all across the state will be competing at UNL Math Day this year.
Everyday Claire comes to class prepared and ready to learn with a smile on her face. Congratulations again to Claire!
