Peru State Art Day

March 26, 2018

On Friday, March 23 ten Southern art students attended the 2nd annual Peru State Art day.  These students spent the day doing various workshops on Cartooning-Illustration, Watercolor, and an introduction to graphic design.  While they were busy learning new techniques the teachers from various schools from around eastern Nebraska were in a cartooning workshop lead by nationally recognized cartoonist and former Peru State faculty member, Paul Fell.  Mr. Fell also acted as the judge for the juried art exhibition comprised of work from students in attendance at Art Day from schools around eastern Nebraska.  Two of our very own talented Southern art students were placed within the top three of the competition.  Senior Tiffany Christen earned 3rd place for her painting, "Best Friends." With her award Tiffany also earned a $1,500 scholarship to Peru State College if she chooses to attend Peru and major/minor in art.  Junior Shelby Decker took the 2nd place award for her drawing, "Lady Bug".  Shelby's award also came with a Peru State art major/minor scholarship for $2000.  Congratulations to both of these young ladies and to all of the students who attended the Peru State Art day and exhibited their work.
