Nicole Zvolanek

Class of 2013

December 15, 2016

What is your favorite memory from high school?

The Yellowstone trip I  took with my class.

What advice would you give high school students today?

To enjoy high school while it last and to start saving money for college now.

What are you doing today?

I am attending the University of Nebraska- Lincoln and majoring in elementary education and special education.

How did Southern High School prepare you for life?

At Southern I was always held accountable for my actions, good or bad. This in turn, led me to be more responsible and made me in a way grow up.

If you could go back what things would you change about high school?

I would have played basketball all four years and put forth more effort in certain classes. I would also take back hitting the school car, because that sucked. :)

What challenges did you face when going from a small school to a big college?

A lot, going from a graduating class of 32 to a classroom of 300 students was a big shock. It took awhile to adjust, but I enjoy going to UNL. I think one of the biggest challenges I had when I was a freshman was finding my classrooms and learning how to use the bus.

How much are you in contact with your classmates from high school?

I currently live with one and keep in contact with a majority of my classmates

What class at Southern High School prepared you for college?

Composition mainly due to the fact that writing papers is a huge part of my major, seems like I’m constantly writing papers.

Did you enjoy Southern High School? Why or Why Not?

Yes, at times I wonder what it would have been like to go to a larger school, but I enjoyed going to Southern and I enjoyed knowing all my classmates and teachers on a personal level.
