Southern Public Schools kicked off the 2026–2027 school year with a first quarter filled with school spirit, community involvement, exciting celebrations, and Raider Pride!

This quarter, the Southern Public Schools Foundation participated in Big Give Gage, raising $2,771 from 23 generous donors toward the development of a STEM/Makerspace at Southern High School. Additionally, 299 Southern students participated in Big Give Gage Kids, earning Southern the title of Battle of the Schools Champion!

We also welcomed new staff members, including K–12 Art Teacher Laney Schaefer and High School Special Education Teacher Amanda Rath, who shared a little about themselves and their excitement for the school year.

Homecoming 2026 brought plenty of excitement with the theme Carnival Nights! Students and staff participated in dress-up days, spirited activities, and celebrations. Congratulations to Homecoming King Paxx Adams and Queen Caroline Heard!

Southern Public Schools also extends a special thank-you to Landoll of Marysville for donating Southern Pride T-shirts to middle and high school students and staff for the third consecutive year.

These are just a few of the highlights from an exciting first quarter! We invite our Raider families and community members to read the 2026–2027 First Quarter Newsletter to catch up on the celebrations, accomplishments, and people who make Southern special.
