📢 Important Seesaw Update for Southern Families

Southern Public Schools’ Seesaw subscription will end October 31, 2026. After this date, photos currently stored in Seesaw will be removed from the platform.

📸 If you would like to keep any of your student’s photos from Seesaw, please download and save them as soon as possible and before October 31.

Moving forward, Southern Public Schools will use Apptegy for parent and family communication, helping keep school information in one convenient place.

Select Southern Staff had the opportunity to attend the annual Nebraska MTSS Summit Conference in Kearney on October 8th and 9th. Mr. Hookstra, Mrs. Fossler, Mrs. Ware, Mrs. Thernes and Mrs. Rath all attended, and had the opportunity to network with educators across the state and learn more about MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports) and how we can implement strategies to support all students in the classroom. MTSS focuses on how we can better provide instruction to all students in the classroom to meet their diverse needs. The conference had some great speakers and presenters, and we are excited to start implementing some strategies and tools into the classroom!

Mrs. Manley's and Mrs. McConnell's preschool classrooms enjoyed fire safety week. The highlight of the week was a visit from the Blue Springs Fire Department. The students were able to learn about the fire fighters' gear, climb on the fire truck and spray a fire hose!!

Mrs. Burgess' and Mrs. Arnold's 4th grade classes took a step back in time on their field trip to Homestead National Monument and Filley Stone Barn on Friday. Students spent the day learning what life was like long ago and how people lived, worked, and survived without the modern conveniences we have today. It was a fun day filled with hands-on learning, exploring, and discovering some history!

Dorchester Booster Club JV Volleyball Tournament schedule for Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Dorchester, Nebraska. Southern competes in Pool A in the Main Gym, playing Nebraska Lutheran at 10:00 AM and Dorchester at 11:00 AM. Placement matches begin at noon, with the championship at 1:00 PM in the Main Gym. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for K–12 students. No passes accepted. Games may begin early if the tournament is ahead of schedule.
