Southern Public Schools is a progressive C-2 district that is conveniently located approximately 15 miles south of Beatrice. Due to retirement, Southern Public Schools is seeking a qualified candidate for a 7-12 Special Education Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. Candidates must possess or be eligible to hold a valid teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement in 7-12 Special Education or K-12 Special Education. Coaching and sponsorship opportunities may be available. Southern Public Schools offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The district will consider up to 10 years of experience for placement on the salary schedule.

Play cast- It is truly important that everyone comes to practice. It is difficult to practice when cast members are not present!
Boys & Girls State- If you are a junior, interested in law enforcement, and want to explore and experience the various aspects of law enforcement and receive training from representatives of city, county, state, and federal law enforcement officers, then you need to attend The American Legion Junior Law Cadet Program. SCC Spring Discovery Days are February 21 and April 6 on the Beatrice campus; March 9 and April 13 on the Lincoln Campus and March 1 and April 20 on the Milford campus. Register at www.southeast.edu/discoverscc
7th and 8th graders can compete in the writing contest sponsored by Omaha Storm Chasers and Nebraska State Treasurer Don Stenberg. The essay must be focussed on "Why I Want to Go To College". The Salvation Army is now accepting applications for the 2018 D.J.'s Hero Awards All nominations must be postmarked by March 5. The application can be found online at SalArmyOmaha.org or SalArmyWestern.org
The Nebraska School Counselor Association will be awarding 3-$500 scholarships to competitively selected recipients. The application can be found in the counseling office and is due March 30, 2018.
Juniors who want to apply for the Youth Salute need to complete their applications by Feb 21. These applications were given to all Juniors who had at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Seniors can apply for the James M. Cox Foundation scholarship program. The Foundation awards $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors in the eastern third of Nebraska who will attend an institution of higher learning in the 2018-2019 academic year and who demonstrate acute need. Applications are in the counseling office. Deadline is April 17.
The Independent Cattlemen of Nebraska is offering the Jim Hanna Memorial Scholarship. You or your parents must be a member of this organization to apply. Deadline is April 30
