Southern 4th grade attended Pioneer Days hosted by Homestead National Monument of America
The Southern 4th grade attended Pioneer Days hosted by Homestead National Monument of America. As part of their Nebraska History studies, the students learned about the Homestead Act as well as various pioneer activities. The students were able to make candles, play pioneer games, learn about spinning wool, quilting, and perform various pioneer chores.
The 4th graders also spent an afternoon at the Wymore Fire Hall in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week. Local volunteer fire fighters showed the class the various vehicles and equipment they use for both fire and rescue response. All students participated in a poster competition with the theme of "Not All Heroes Wear Capes, Plan and Practice Your Escape". Congratulations to the four poster competition winners: Emma Eisenhauer, Jadun Duke, Audi Renderos, and Jaylin Klover.
