2nd graders took a field trip to Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City
On Wednesday, October 16th the 2nd graders took a field trip to Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City. Students were able to enjoy a beautiful day outside along with many fun activities! Upon arrival, students visited the apple orchard and were able to see many varieties of apple trees. They learned about the seasons of the apple tree, how the apple harvester takes care of the orchard, and how important bees are to the trees. They also got to taste test the orchard’s very own fresh apple cider. Everyone was willing to try it. Many of the kids liked it so much, they bought their own to take home. The students got to view the very first trees that J.Sterling Morton planted many years ago. They learned how important the trees are. Next students visited the Apple House where they were able to see where the apples are sorted and made into different kinds of apple products. After eating lunch, they took a walk on Tree House Trail and climbed to the top of the 50-foot tree house. They explored the new Tree Canopy making their way from treehouse to treehouse, crossing suspended bridges, and netted walkways, ending with a net for jumping and a 50 foot slide.
Students climbed on the 20-foot spider web and tried out the Zipline. Last they visited the Apple House where they purchased yummy treats. All in all the 2nd graders had a fun, exciting, and educational day!
