Southern Students help Nebraska Flood Victims

Story image 1_0

Community support can have a powerful effect on a small town.  Southern students and teachers led the charge of collecting donations for flood relief.  But none of it could have been possible without the help of the patrons in our community.  Combined with the elementary, Southern was able to raise a total of $4689.67! This far exceeded our original expectations.  On the last day, students were in a frenzy digging through backpacks and skipping seconds at lunch in an effort to win the contest.  It was very close but in the end, the Freshman class was able to take the final lead collecting a total of $539.93!  In a close second was the Eighth grade with $525.56 and Sophomores with $500.00.  Juniors and Seniors contributed a combined total of $463.00. The Elementary stepped up to the challenge and raised $1342.17!  We will be cutting a check to North Bend Central for their teacher/student relief fund. Plus the reward, taping a teacher to the wall.  I'm sure students will have quite a time choosing their victim. Taping the teacher will commence Wed, April 10. A huge thanks to everyone who participated in the drive and donated.  It's a great day to be a Raider! #raiderpride
