Math Student of the Month for 2018. Bella is a 10 th grader who is
currently taking Pre-Calculus Class. Recently, her class has been
graphing lines on the graphing calculators and will be graphing
polynomial functions soon. Bella is a hard worker and she is
competitive. She placed 7 th out of thousands of students that
attended UNL Math Day this past November. For her efforts she
received a $2000.00 scholarship to attend UNL in the future. Over 99
high schools from across the state participated, and students from
Kearney, Scottsbluff, and Beatrice were in attendance along with
students from Southern High School. Also competing individually
very well was Dalton Heard who placed in the top 250 and Josh
Lundstedt who placed in the top 500 out of all the students. The
Southern Math Quiz Bowl Team finished 5 th in our class division and
got eliminated by the quiz bowl teams that went on to place 1 st and 3 rd
overall in our class division. Congratulations Again to Bella who is
the November Math Student of the Month!
