Overall
Math 8 will use Pre-Algebra book. This textbook will give you a strong foundation in algebra while also preparing you for future study of geometry, and probability.

Student Grading
Quizzes will be worth 20%. L to J will be worth 5%. Notes will be worth 15%. Tests will be worth 60%.
Classroom Expectations
Students are to come to class prepared which includes, bring Math book, paper, pencil and note book, and being on time. Students at all times are to be respectful of the teacher and other students in the room. All work is to be done in pencil. If you do not have a pencil, you may rent a pencil.
If you are late to class make sure that you have a pass. It is ten minutes after school if you do not have a pass. During your study time at end of class you may go to the bathroom or get a drink.
Your homework will not be graded. But on Monday and Wednesday, there will be a quiz. The quiz will come from problems found on the homework assignment. You may use you homework assignment to do the quiz. You will not received any credit unless the problem shows all work. This means that you want to do your work in detail. On Friday, the quiz could be over all material and not necessary the problems found in homework.
There will be notes to take over the concepts covered. A notebook will be provided for your math notes. These notes can be used when taking tests or quizzes.
Absences
Your Student Handbook defines these expectations and parameters. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to get the assignment and notes for the day(s) missed. After test, the work will not be graded. Get make-up tests and quizzes done as quickly as possible usually the next day. It is your responsibility to make arrangements for make-up quizzes or test.
