Weight Training
Course Description: The purpose of this class is to develop flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and cardiovascular endurance.
Class Expectations:

You must be dressed properly and ready for class four minutes after the tardy bell rings. That means you need to be at your station ready to go. You will need a separate change of clothes. You will not wear what you wore to school. Please keep these clothes clean. Proper clothing includes gym shorts or sweats, t-shirt, pair of socks, and a pair of shoes. Must meet handbook guidelines.

No candy or gum in class. DO NOT BRING FOOD TO CLASS.

You may take a shower if you choose, but you still need to be dressed and on time to your next class. You won’t get a pass because you took a shower.

You may wait in the gym after class. There will be no leaving the gym for any reason. If this becomes a problem you will wait in the locker room. This means NO going out into the commons.

You are expected to be on time, prepared, and bring a positive attitude. Rude and Disrespectful behavior such as inappropriate language, putting others or myself down, and fighting WILL affect your grade. Being prepared means when class starts you are ready to begin. Things such as using the bathroom and getting a drink need to be taken care of before class starts.

Three tardies equal a absence. Every one after that equals a full detention.

You will have a minimum of 5 lifts per day that you must complete. Anything that gets in the way of you completing the lifts will result in a loss of points. You are either spotting someone or lifting, no excuses. When you have completed your sheet you must go to the extra’s page and work on that. Any time spent talking with others, waiting to be dismissed from class, faking, shortening, or lessening will result in points lost. You WILL work from the time we get up to the weight deck until the time we leave it.
- You will not be allowed to sit out of PE for any reason unless you present me with a doctor or parents note.. Any time you choose to sit out will result in a full detention and you will be sent to the cubes with an assignment. The assignment will be due the following day at the beginning of class. You will have a detention every day until it’s done. If you sit out because of injury you will receive a similar assignment that will also be due the following day. If it is not done you will receive no points for that day. Please note that anytime you sit out you will lose all points for that day.
-Behavior- The first time there is a problem you will be warned. The second time you will receive a detention. The third will result in removal from class and a detention.
Schedule: We will meet in the gym everyday for stretching and a warm up activity. You will spend everyday in the weight room. You will be on a 4 day work out program. The fifth day will be used as a make up day and various other things such as testing, paperwork, quizzes, ect. You will be expected to lift on game days at times, but the workout will be easier that day. If you are absent on any day of the week you will have to make up that day on Friday. If you are present all week there will be a list of activities you can choose from on Friday. If the lifts are not made up you will lose all points for that day. It is your responsibility to get lifts made up.
Grading: You get ten points to start the day. Quiz grades, skill tests, and semester tests will be factored in.
1 point for proper warm up
1 point for gum
1 point for being on time and prepared
2 points for proper clothing
5 points for attitude and work ethic during class and for the lifts of the day.
