Metas: (goals)
Los estudiantes en Español 3 continuarán su estudio del idioma de español, la cultura, y los costumbres de la gente en los paises hispanohablantes. Los estudiantes en Español 3 necesitarán aumentar su proficiencia en leer, escribir, hablar, y escuchar el idioma de español.
Los estudiantes tienen que participar en una manera activamente en la clase y necesitarán cumplir sus tareas a fuera de la clase. Cada estudiante aumentará su proficiencia personal por medio de usar el idioma activamente en clase. La profesora hablará todo el tiempo en español para que los estudiantes se acostumbran de escuchar el idioma a la velocidad normal. Los estudiantes aprenderán todos los verbos necesarios en español.
Grading System: (per semester)
The grading for each semester will include:
Verbal participation 20%
Projects 40% (4 projects each are worth 10%)
Daily 10%
Evaluations 30%( 2 evaluations per semester each are worth 15%)
Classroom Rules:
1. Bring a good attitude and a smile
2. Be in your seat when the bell rings or you will be tardy
3. Bring materials to class every day that are needed for Spanish class
4. Do not leave the room without permission
5. Speak in Spanish as much as possible
6. You may use the restroom during the first 5 minutes or the last 5 minutes of class time (depending on teacher’s instruction).
7. Disciplinary problems will be discussed, if needed, after class, before or after school, or by appointment. Not during class time!
8. Gum, food, candy, or pop will not be permitted unless for exceptions made by the teacher.
9. Be ready to learn and have fun!!!!
Expectations
1. Respect for one another (i.e.; if something doesn’t belong to you ask for permission before taking it)
2. Ask questions – if teacher is speaking in Spanish too fast, you are confused, or totally lost, please ask questions. THERE ARE NO WRONG QUESTIONS!!!
3. Have all homework, reports, dialogues, and other assignments turned in on the due date. If you were in class attendance and/or are aware of the due date of the assignment and the assignment is not done it is a zero.
4. When missing a class please talk to the teacher before leaving to get assignments. Assignments will need to be completed before leaving.
5. Participation is mandatory and students must be willing interact with other students.
6. I will try very hard to have grades available on a weekly basis (Monday) therefore the student may know at all times his/her status in the class.
7. When trying to get the teacher’s attention, please raise your hand and allow the teacher to say your name before you begin speaking.
8. If a student disagrees with anything the teacher has made a decision about, please be willing to come in and visit one-on-one to discuss it appropriately.
9. If the teacher gives the student a detention please serve it in the teacher’s room. If the student is a “no-show” the detention will be referred to room 101.
10. Consequences: 1st violation- verbal warning, 2nd violation – before or after school detention, 3rd violation – room 101.
Primer Semestre
Semana 1 Explanation of classroom expectations, classroom rules, class syllabus, book check out, creation of Portfolios, Practice of writing goals and reflections, Syllabus quiz, Countries quiz, and choosing Spanish names.
Semana 2 y 3 Review of Spanish 2 Capítulos 1-7, and activities for linguafolio. Evaluation of Spanish 2
Semana 4, 5, y 6 Begin objectives for capítulo 1, to be able to express interest and displeasure, to be able to ask for information about someone, to be able to tell someone about yourself, to be able to talk about pastimes and hobbies, prepare lessons for elementary Spanish.
Semana 7 Cultural activity “El Fútbol”, and writing about and describing your favorite activity.
Semana 8 y9 Begin objectives for capítulo 2, to be able to ask for advice and to be able to give advice, to be able to talk about your daily routine, to be to discuss what things used to be like, prepare lessons for elementary Spanish.
Semana 10 y 11 Finish capítulo 2, Cultural Activity “Día de Los Muertos”
Semana 12, 13,y 14Begin objectives for capítulo 3, to be able to talk about what has happened, to be able to support a point of view, to be about to talk about future events, to be able to talk about our responsibilities with the world and the use of technology, prepare lessons for elementary Spanish.
Semana 15 y 16 prepare for evaluation of semana 4-14, Take evaluation of semana 4-14. Begin cultural activity “Las Posadas”
Semana 17 y 18 Finish cultural activity “Las Posadas”, prepare for portfolio evaluation, and take portfolio evaluation.

Segunda Semestre
Semana 1 Review primer semestre
Semana 2, 3, y 4 Begin objectives for capítulo 4, to about how food tastes, to about accidents, to be able to ask for help, to be able to ask someone to do a favor, prepare lessons for elementary Spanish.
Semana 5 Cultural activity “la comida de los paises hispanohablantes” prepare your favorite “Receta”
Semana 6 Begin objectives for capítulo 5, to be able express agreement and disagreement, to be about to report what others say, to be able to talk about your hopes, wishes, and dreams, prepare lessons for elementary Spanish.
Semana 7 Cultural activity “La Inmersión”, Finish capítulo 5, and prepare lessons for elementary Spanish.
Semana 8, 9, y 10 Begin objectives for capítulo 6, to be able to change a topic of conversation, to be to express what needs to be done, to be about to make suggestions and recommendations, prepare lessons for elementary Spanish.
Semana 11 Cultural activity “La semana Santa”
Semana 12 y 13Finish capítulo 6, “Artista Frida Kahlo”, “Los instrumentos de America Latina”, and prepare lessons for elementary Spanish.
Semana 15 y 16 Cultural activity “El Baile Latino”, Celebration of “Cinco de Mayo”, prepare lessons for elementary Spanish.
Semana 17 y 18 Preparation of portfolio for final evaluation. Take Final evaluation.
