Sweet and Sassy Class Syllabus,2010-2011

Fall Concert, November 15th, 7:00 p.m.

Christmas Concert, Sunday, Dec. 11th, 2:00 p.m..

Perform at Good Samaritan home. .Counts as your Final exam second quarter.

This class meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30-8:05 a.m. You receive one hour of credit for this first semester class. Due to the extremely short time, one hour per week, it is imperative that we begin on time. Everyone needs to help move chairs, equipment, or whatever is necessary. If time permits, we may review music or a step during concert choir to help us remember things better, esp. on Fridays and the beginning of the quarter.

Dress: Red. Hair must be pulled off the face and stage make-up is expected. This means blush & mascara so that you do not look completely “wiped out” under the stage lights. Lipstick, and ONE pair of earrings. No nose rings etc.... Flesh colored nylons. Sometimes you will be required to wear your swing choir shirt to a performance with blue jeans. Shirts WILL be tucked in. School dress code will be followed whether we are in Wymore or traveling to perform at a different site...this DOES include graduation and pops. You will vote on how you want to wear your nails and all girls must match and live with your vote. No JEANS with holes, NO pajamas etc.. travel in choir T-Shirts and blue jeans...

Failure to perform in the correct costume will mean your grade is docked 20 pts minimum. Appearance is an important part of every performance and impacts all students in the group.

***There may be an occasion where we would need to meet on a Weds. or Monday morning before a concert. We will determine this in advance. You would then not have class on  Tuesday or Thursday of that week.**********

***If you are in another club or organization, including student council , you are expected to come to class first, just like you would for any other class on an activity day. This must also be cleared in advance just as it would need to be for any other class. Remember if you are in class for at least half the period, it does not count as an absence. You may be excused at the appropriate time, otherwise you receive a zero for the day and you will still need to learn any new material that was presented that morning. Avoid problems --plan ahead.

If you miss class, it is your responsibility to make sure you know the material that was practiced in class during your absence. Skipping class to shoot hoops, make-up a test for another class is a zero.  You do not skip one class to go to another and NEVER for another activity.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS:

You are expected to memorize your music and your part.

You are expected to work to improve from your own level on singing, choreographic movement, and especially being able to be “facially expressive”.

You are expected to work with each other without negative comment. If you can’t say or contribute something positive, don’t say anything.

You are expected to be at all performances in the appropriate costume.

You are expected to be on time, in school, and maintain your grades.

If you are assigned choreography, you are expected to be ready to present your assignment on the assigned day, just like any other assignment for any other class. Everyone else is expected to follow directions by whomever is presenting material.

Leave your personal problems outside of the classroom please.

CELL PHONES;  SAME RULES AS CONCERT CHOIR
