Band Information for Grades 5-12
Summer Performances
A big “Thank You!!” from Ms. Gerdes goes to all the students who
participated in any of the following summer performances: Memorial
Day observation, Barneston Q125 parade, Sam Wymore Days parade. All
students volunteered to be at rehearsals and performances. We had
good participation this year and Ms. Gerdes received lots of
compliments and kind words from people watching the performances.
Students came to 7:30am. rehearsals which is earlier than the start
of a normal school day. Your volunteerism is really
appreciated!
Grand Piano Donated
The Thomas Foundation (Margaret and Martha Thomas) has donated
$19,500 and Music Boosters $500, for the purchase of a Yamaha
Concert Grand Piano. Dr. Shimeall, superintendent, wrote the grant.
The new piano will replace the old Baldwin concert grand piano that
has been with the school for over 30 years. The new piano is in a
black glossy ebony finish. It will arrive middle to late August.
The music department greatly appreciates this wonderful donation,
especially in times when we have had to tighten the financial belts
in all departments at the school. The Thomas Foundation has made an
impossible purchase a reality. Please contact Shelly Gerdes if you
are interested in purchasing the old concert grand piano.
Music Boosters Information
Music Boosters recently paid $500 for the new concert grand piano.
And they served a meal for the BRAN riders on June 10th. The fund
raiser was very successful. Thanks is extended to all the people
who made desserts, or worked at the meal.
Band Trip 2012 Payments Due
Thank you for a successful fund raiser at the Barneston Q125
celebration. The Barneston planning committee really appreciated
your efforts!!
Band trip payments of $132.50 are due June 15th. Please send them
or drop them off to Jane Mallam.
