ACT Practice Time is Here!

October 28th

by Carol Braun

October 23, 2008

Juniors and Seniors are being given the opportunity to take part in the John Baylor Test Prep course on line.

ESU #5 schools are working together to buy these services for our students at a reduced cost. Each student must pay $50 to register for the course. If they successfully finish the course by completing each of the 14 lessons, the deposit will be returned to the family. If they do not complete the 14 lessons and they do not have an approved release from the program, the $50 deposit will not be returned. An approved release would be a medical issue or family hardship or something similar.

The 14 lessons that are taught on line will be during the school day, rotating time periods. Classes begin November 3 and end December 8. Make up sessions are on Tuesdays and Thursdays and must be arranged with Carol Braun or Mrs. Goes.

The student will be missing the following class periods. When a student misses class, they must have communicated with their teacher and their work made up before they miss that regular school day class or the consequences will be given by the classroom teacher. This could include a 0 or docked points for late work.

Sessions for the on line classes will be:

November 3--3rd hour
November 5--4th hour
November 7--5th hour
November 10--6th hour
November 12--7th hour
November 14--1st hour
November 17--2nd hour
November 19--3rd hour
November 21--4th hour
November 24--5th hour
December 1--6th hour
December 3--7th hour
December 5--1st hour
December 8--2nd hour

Students will have until October 28 to sign up and pay their deposit. I will then give a list of participating students to the office and to the teachers before the first class.

We plan to do this same thing in the Spring before the April test with some minor improvements when we get feedback from the students and faculty.

Any questions, please see Mrs. Goes or Mr. Murphy.
