The Southern High School band traveled to Toronto Canada May 27-31, 2008. Fifty-two students, six sponsors and four parents and relatives attended the trip. This trip was a big goal spread over 4 years of fund raising.
The places and events the students enjoyed were: a guided downtown Toronto tour on the lakeshore, a view of the city at the CN Tower which is the world's tallest building, going to the Famous People Players dinner theatre, attending the dinner theatre called Medieval Times which featured a jousting tournament between knights on horseback, taking a tour of a 19th century castle called Castle Loma, visiting the Ontario Science Centre, sailing on a boat called the Maid of the Mist boat tour to view Niagara Falls, and touring Ripley's Believe It Or Not museum in the city of Niagara Falls.
The Southern Concert Band performed 3 selections for an adjudicator at a festival at Paramount's Wonderland and then the rest of the day was spent enjoying the rides at the park.
The band, and Ms. Gerdes, their director, would like to thank all the patrons and businesses that helped them reach their financial goals.
