Metas: (goals)
Los estudiantes en Español 3 continuarán su estudio del idioma de español, la cultura, y los costumbres de la gente en los paises hispanohablantes. Los estudiantes en Español 3 necesitarán aumentar su proficiencia en leer, escribir, hablar, y escuchar el idioma de español.
Los estudiantes tienen que participar en una manera activamente en la clase y necesitarán cumplir sus tareas a fuera de la clase. Cada estudiante aumentará su proficiencia personal por medio de usar el idioma activamente en clase. La profesora hablará todo el tiempo en español para que los estudiantes se acostumbran de escuchar el idioma a la velocidad normal. Los estudiantes aprenderán todos los verbos necesarios en español.
Grading System: (per semester)
The grading for each semester will include:
Verbal participation 25%
2 Major projects 10%
1 Major paper 10% (2 pages)
Daily Assignments 15%
Tests 40% (4 tests per semester)
Classroom Rules:
- Bring a good attitude and a smile
- Be in your seat when the bell rings or you will be tardy
- Bring materials to class every day that are needed for Spanish class
- Do not leave the room without permission
- Speak in Spanish as much as possible
- You may use the restroom during the first 5 minutes or the last 5 minutes of class time (depending on teacher’s instruction).
- Disciplinary problems will be discussed, if needed, after class, before or after school, or by appointment. Not during class time!
- Gum, food, candy, or pop will not be permitted unless for exceptions made by the teacher.
- Be ready to learn and have fun!!!!
Expectations
- Respect for one another (i.e.; if something doesn’t belong to you ask for permission before taking it)
- Ask questions – if teacher is speaking in Spanish too fast, you are confused, or totally lost, please ask questions. THERE ARE NO DUMB QUESTIONS!!!
- Have all homework, reports, dialogues, and other assignments turned in on the due date. If you were in class attendance and/or are aware of the due date of the assignment and the assignment is not done it is a zero.
- When missing a class please talk to the teacher before leaving to get assignments. Assignments will need to be completed before leaving.
- Participation is mandatory and students must be willing interact with other students.
- I will try very hard to have grades available on a weekly basis (Monday) therefore the student may know at all times his/her status in the class.
- When trying to get the teacher’s attention, please raise your hand and allow the teacher to say your name before you begin speaking.
- If a student disagrees with anything the teacher has made a decision about, please be willing to come in and visit one-on-one to discuss it appropriately.
- If the teacher gives the student a detention please serve it in the teacher’s room. If the student is a “no-show” the detention will be referred to room 101.
- Consequences: 1st violation- verbal warning, 2nd violation – before or after school detention, 3rd violation – room 101.
Primer Semestre
Semana 1 – Review alphabet and vowels in Spanish, introductions, new names, rules and expectations.
Semana 2 – Lección 1 – Vocabulary, expressing interest, indifference and displeasure, and describing yourself and others
Semana 3 – Lección 1 – review vocabulary, asking for information, stem-changing verbs saber vs. conocer, present tense verbs, preterite tense verbs, y prueba de escuchar.
Semana 4 – Create dialogue (unit test), review for vocabulario and unit test, vocabulary and unit test.
Semana 5 – Unidad de paises hispanohablantes (España), Interactive activities.
Semana 6 – Lección 2 – vocabulario, asking for and giving advice
Semana 7 – Lección 2 – review vocabulary, talking about taking care or yourself, informal commands, reflexive verbs, imperfect tense y prueba de escuchar.
Semana 8 – Prepare for speaking test, review for vocabulary and unit test, vocabulary and unit test.
Semana 9 – Lección 3 – vocabulario, talking about what has happened, expressing and supporting a point of view, using conversational fillers
Semana 10 – Lección 3 – review vocabulario, talking about future events, talking about responsibilities, present tense, future tense, lo que, y prueba de escuchar.
Semana 11 – Create dialogue, Día De Los Muertos activity, review vocabulary and unit test, vocabulary test, unit test
Semana 12 – Unidad de México, Internet activity, y presentaciones.
Semana 13 – Lección 4 – vocabulario, talking about how food tastes, talking about unintentional events
Semana 14 – Lección 4 – review vocabulario, 1st major paper, asking for help and requesting favors, y prueba de escuchar.
Semana 15 – Create dialogue, 1st major paper continued
Semana 16 – Unidad de República Dominicana y Puerto Rico, activity and presentation.
Semana 17 – Activity de Navidad
Semana 18 – Semester final and review for final
Segunda Semestre
Semana 19 – Lección 5 – vocabulario, expressing qualified agreement and disagreement, reporting what others say and think.
Semana 20 – Lección 5 – review vocabulario, talking about hopes and wishes, subjunctive of ir, ser, dar, estar y prueba de escuchar.
Semana 21 – Create dialogue, review for vocabulary and unit test, vocabulary test, unit test.
Semana 22 – Unidad de Nicaragua y Costa Rica, Activity and presentation.
Semana 23 – Lección 6 – vocabulario, 2nd major paper, introducing and changing a topic of conversation, expressing what needs to be done.
Semana 24 – Lección 6 – review vocabulario, 2nd major paper continued, expressing an opinion, making suggestions and recommendations, turning down an invitation y prueba de escuchar.
Semana 25 – prepare for speaking test (unit test), review for vocabulary, vocabulary test, and unit test.
Semana 26 – Unidad de Venezuela y Colombia activity and presentation.
Semana 27- Lección 7 – vocabulario, expressing happiness and unhappiness, comforting someone, and making an apology
Semana 28 – Lección 7 – review vocabulario, describing and ideal relationship, subjunctive continued y prueba de escuchar.
Semana 29 – Create dialogue, review for vocabulary and unit test, vocabulary test, unit test.
Semana 30 – Unidad de Argentina y Chile, presentation and activity.
Semana 31 – Lección 8 – vocabulario, expressing doubt, disbelief, certainty, and possibility.
Semana 32- Lección 8 – review vocabulario, expressing impossibility and surprise, subjunctive, por vs. para y prueba de escuchar.
