Performances at the Good Samaritan home during class time when they can be arranged.

This is a performance class. Performances are worth 10-30 pts. of your grade. You are expected to participate in all performances. If you do not show up on time (being in the audience does NOT count), you will loose points. You will need to make up the time if you miss a concert, just as you do make-up work for your other classes.Students skipping a performance are NOT allowed to make-up work. If you are ill, a parent must call BEFORE the program. A performance is your test in this class. All missed tests must be made up even for illness. Please remember, what we are trying to accomplish requires a group effort, and each and everyone of you is needed.
Show that you are trustworthy and can show up for work on time, completing the project you have started. We need everyone. Plan ahead!

You will be expected to stay for entire programs and listen to all senior high vocal ensembles. This is a basic display of good manners. It is also a learning experience for younger students. Make the necessary arrangements.
Students are expected to sit with the class in assigned seats, not wander the halls with boyfriends or girlfriends or be babysitting during the concert..this includes POPS programs.

Basic Classroom Expectations:
1. Listen to and follow directions the first time; concentrate and cooperate, demonstrate a positive attitude, be self-disciplined.

2. Do your best, work to your ability , and work to improve, be honest.

3. Show respect for other students, your teachers, the building and
classroom, and all equipment. This means being nice to everyone and everything.

4. Be in your seat on time with your music open to correct page, ready to work.

5. Use correct singing posture whether we are seated or standing.

6. No gum or candy in class unless we are all participating in a party.
7. Disrespectful behavior, tardiness, or inappropriate language will be an automatic detention. Disrupting class in any way can mean a detention.
8. Students are expected to follow the school dress code in class, at concerts, and at contest; in other words, anytime or anywhere students are singing including POPS programs and at the Good Sam. NO JEANS WITH HOLES, no low cut shirts, tank tops or spaghetti straps are allowed during a performance, when we travel to contest or anywhere else. Look your best when you represent your school. Grades will be lowered for 15 pts for the first violation and additional points for repeated offenses.

Concert Dress:
Dress clothes. No blue jeans except for the POPS programs. AGAIN< NO HOLES IN JEANS OR OTHER SLACKS< ETC>>>No sweat or wind pants. Black jeans & khaki pants are fine. All shirts should be “plain”...no advertisements. Shirts are buttoned over “undershirts”.
Ladies, blouses and shirts must cover all the anatomy expected to be covered during the regular school day classes at all performances. Plan ahead.
Follow SCHOOL DRESS CODE and you will look great! Girls: No super short skirts or high heels please. No low cut shirts. Plan on wearing dresses or skirts to contest. Appearance IS part of the judging criteria for everyone.

Grading:
Based on your daily participation, cooperation, and attitude. Attendance at performances is mandatory.
Memorization of parts as required; working on correct vowel and consonant sounds as a team member; theory, history, sight-singing, and computer work.
