Poetry in motion

Making English educational and fun

by Sheila Cordry

April 10, 2007

Mrs. Cordry's ninth and twelfth grade classes spent two weeks learning about and creating their own poetry.  They wrote a total of 17 poems each, including acrostics, concrete, and even sonnets.  After writing the poems, the students created books to bind their poetry.  Then, a day was set aside for a "coffee house" atmosphere reading of their hard work.  The student sat on the floor and played instruments in rhythm
